At this time of year the crops in the ground need little attention, but we are busy hedge laying and planting before spring arrives. With 120 calves due and 50 ewes to lamb, spring is inevitably an exciting time. Our herds of Dexter, Longhorn & Aberdeen Angus cattle are over winter in large, airy barns where we are able to keep a close eye on the expectant mothers. We are also expecting a very special arrival with the birth due in April of a Suffolk Punch foal. Rarer than the Giant Panda there are less than 30 Suffolk foals born each year, so we are looking after mum Melody with special care. Fingers crossed, our next newsletter will feature a happy photo of mother and foal.
